Biography
I completed high school in a small town in Louisiana just outside of New Orleans. I received my undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa and my Ph.D. in 2008 from Michigan State University with an internship in child and adolescent clinical psychology at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. I work with children as young as 2, adolescents, and young adults up to around 25, including families, doing both assessments and therapy. I use a variety of treatment modalities, but primarily evidence-based approaches such as cognitive-behavioral, dialectical behavioral, behavioral, and family systems. I enjoy working with a range of different problems, including depression, anxiety, and other severe or complicated conditions. I also consult on the adolescent in-patient unit at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, the Ridge, and do private practice at MindPsi because I enjoy helping children, adolescents, and families.
My primary job is as a tenured professor and the Director of Clinical Training at the University of Kentucky. My research area is assessment and etiology of ADHD, disruptive behavior problems, and drinking between childhood and adolescence and I have received competitive research funding from the National Institute of Health. I have written or edited books on attention and learning problems, disruptive behavior problems, and Oppositional Defiant Disorder.
