Biography
Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA)
I earned my Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from the University of Georgia, and I have spent much of my career as a Professor of Psychology at Eastern Kentucky University teaching and conducting research. In 2019, I expanded my professional roles by completing the training for a BCBA through Florida Institute of Technology. I am a Licensed Behavior Analyst, and I provide Applied Behavior Analytic (ABA) services to children and adolescents. ABA is an evidenced-based therapy that is designed to build new and effective behaviors. This is achieved through a system of seamlessly prompting functional behavior, and then providing positive supports as the more effective behaviors emerge. I prefer to build functional behaviors in the environments in which the behavior is occurring, in order to provide the most effective outcomes and highest quality of life for my clients and their families.
I particularly enjoy working with children and adolescents on the severe end of the Autism Spectrum, and helping them to develop positive behaviors that will be valuable for a lifetime. I also enjoy working with parents who are experiencing difficulty in managing the behavior of their young children, and helping them to build parenting practices that are both loving and successful. I have also provided functional assessments and positive behavior intervention plans for elementary age children whose challenging behaviors, so that they can have a successful school experience.
