We provide counseling services to address a wide range of presenting concerns or issues for children, adolescents, and adults.
Growing up provides a lot of challenges for children and adolescents. Most of the time talking with parents and friends about troubling events is enough. However, some challenges are too much for children and adolescents to handle even with support from friends and family. Our counseling services provide therapy that can give the additional support that children and adolescents need to get them back on the right track.
Adulthood brings its own sets of challenges including work, family, and other settings. These challenges can get to be too much and there are often fewer supports for adults than for children and adolescents. At that point it is time to seek out our counseling services so that these life challenges can be overcome.
Speaking with a professional therapist can provide someone with the support and tools they need to overcome obstacles they face. Our staff offers counseling to address a wide range of presenting concerns or issues for children, adolescents, and adults. We provide a safe and confidential space for all patients to open up and work towards their goals.
Therapy Services – focus on identifying a client’s strengths and areas of concern/need for growth. The therapist works with the individual or family to establish reasonable goals for improvement and develops treatment interventions that meet the needs of the individual/family, uses a client’s strengths, and has shown to be effective in research.
The therapist is often seen as a coach who teaches skills and provides support and encouragement in a welcoming, safe, a positive environment.
Improvement and Progress – Research indicates that some improvement in symptoms should occur within about three sessions and many individuals reach goals and experience a good amount of relief between 6-10 sessions provided the individual is practicing and using skills outside of the therapy office.
The therapist works with the client and family at each session to evaluate improvement and whether progress is being made towards reaching goals. This evaluation is done using questionnaires, direct report from the client and family members or teachers, and through direct observation from the therapist.
Treatment interventions and therapy focus is then modified as needed. As such, the client and family are active participants in the therapy process.
Family Involvement – When working with children and adolescents, the family is regularly involved in the therapy process and given support as to how to coach the child/adolescent to use skills in the home and school setting.
